Jackie Linn “Jack” Peters, 66, of rural Grand Mound, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on his farm, Sunday, May 8, 2016.

Jack was born June 10, 1949, to Leonard and Vera (Wulf) Peters in Clinton. He attended school in Welton and graduated from Central Community High School, DeWitt, in 1967. Jack worked for the Clinton County Secondary Roads Department for 42 years before retiring. He was a life-long farmer in Grand Mound and continued to work the land where he was raised until his final day. He was united in marriage to Cozetta Bennett on March 20, 1999, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound, and Iowa Farm Bureau. Jack had quite a talent for making yard art out of old farm equipment. He enjoyed dogs and cats, going for drives and antiquing. Jack loved spoiling his nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews, always making sure there was enough candy for everyone and taking them for rides in the field.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Cozy; his brother Ronnie (Sandy), and his twin brother Bob (Phyllis) both of DeWitt; nieces and nephews, Michelle (Corey) Nuehring and their children, Caitlyn, Cole and Claire, Michael Peters (Jenny Brown), and Mark Peters, Lisa (Matt) Stueber and their children, Noah and Leah, Jeff (Jodee) Peters and their children Hannah, Hailee, and “Little” Jack; Cozy’s children, Dennis (Becci) Hall and their children, Patrick, Matthew, and Zachary, Tia (Nate) Wilson and their children, Cassie, Kailee, and Kaden; aunts, Margie Wulf and Bernice Wulf; and his faithful dog, Maggie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound, Iowa. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, in the church with the Rev. Steven Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound.

Memorials are suggested to the Grand Mound Volunteer Fire Department, Welton Volunteer Fire Department, and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Mound.
