Vicki L. Irwin, 67, of Clinton, passed away, Tuesday, April 26, 2016 after fighting a brave battle with Alzheimer’s.

A Celebration of Vicki’s life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Clinton AMVETS Club. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.

Vicki Lynn Gates was born on September 4, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Owen) Gates. She was a 1966 graduate of Camanche High School. She later graduated from Mount St. Clare College and attended Iowa State University. She married James Irwin on June 12, 1971 in Clinton.

Vicki was an accounting clerk at Ralston Purina and Hawkeye Chemical. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flower beds. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, especially cooking meals together. She loved raising monarch butterflies and drinking a glass of red wine with dark chocolate.

Vicki is survived by her husband: Jim of Clinton; her children: Megan (Jason) Comstock of Clinton, Bret (Jennifer) Irwin of Columbia, South Carolina, and Curt Irwin of Oakland, California; four grandchildren: Keaton & Brynn Comstock, and Colton & Bricelyn Mae Irwin; her brother: Gary Gates of Camanche; and dear friends: Gary & Ruth Spilger of Clinton, their children: Ben & Anna; Karen Pessman of Clinton, Tom and Jan McEleney, Ed and Janelle Kross, Molly and Joe Manemann, Stan and Karin Harmsen, Pat and Kathy Burke, Larry and Maggie Fogg, Jon and Sue Mitchell, and Eric and Mary Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents and mother and father-in-law.

Memorials can be made to the Alverno or the Clinton Humane Society.

A special thanks to the staff of the Alverno and Genesis Hospice for the very special care that they gave to Vicki.
