Gary Soenksen age 63 of Clinton, passed away Saturday April 9, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. In following Gary’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday April 14th, 2016 at the Pape Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday, April 13th and from 10 A.M. until the service time Thursday at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the services at the Eagles Club. Henry Gary Soenksen was born September 27, 1952 the son of Henry “Bud” and Catherine “Katie” (Inman) Soenksen. He attended Fulton and Camanche schools, graduating from Camanche High School. Gary attended Clinton Community College where he played baseball. He married Connie Hoffman on August 26, 2006 in Clinton. Gary had farmed and later been employed with Bengston Construction, McJunkin and was a part owner of Bonnie’s Scenic Tavern with his wife. He was a member of the Eagles Club, enjoyed working in the yard and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. Gary is survived by his wife, Connie; three sons, Brian (Beth) Soenksen, Kevin (Shawnelle) Soenksen and Jeff (Julie) Soenksen; a step-daughter, Lacey (A.J.) Steines; two step-sons, Jesse Everson and Eric (Cheryl) Everson; four grandsons, Dakota, Cameron, Cole and Mason; several step-grandchildren; a special step-granddaughter, Laynie; a brother, Greg (Deb) Soenksen; two nephews and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and beloved dog, Gizmo.
