Deena J. Determan age 55, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on Friday April 8, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. In following Deena’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday April 12, 2016 at the Pape Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday April 13th at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Deena Jane Determan was born on April 15th, 1960 in Clinton, the daughter of Donald and Joan (Dinnie) Sorensen. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1978. Deena married her high school sweetheart, Kevin Determan on July 21, 1979 in Clinton. She had been employed with Sorensen Homes. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, family vacations to Destin, FL, hosting hog roasts, cooking, playing penny slots and listening to her favorite band Bowman, Pickney, and Evans. Deena is survived by her husband, Kevin; two children, Erin (Eddie) Dunham of Clinton and Nathan Determan (Kris Maitlen) of Moline, IL; six grandchildren, Shelby, Sadie, Alyssa, Carter, Makayla and Caelyn; her mother Joan Sorensen of Clinton; two sisters, Donna (Kris Westphal) Sorensen of Iowa City and Deb (Bob) Ketelsen of Clinton; a brother Ken (Sue) Sorensen of Eden Prairie, MN; many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Kevin. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
