Alfred L. Woods, 87, of Fulton, died Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Springdale Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Serving as pallbearers will be Bruce Woods, David Woods, Sr., David Woods, Jr., Aarik Woods, Eric Burden, and Terry Geerts. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Alfred Lee Woods was born on August 15, 1928 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Alfred and Martha (Holst) Woods. He was a 1947 graduate of Clinton High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a Staff Sergeant from 1952 until being discharged on August 18, 1952. He married Gealea J. Fugate on May 25, 1956 in Clinton.

Al was employed at Jim Walter Window Co., Central Steel, and McEleney Motors.

Al was a member of the First United Methodist Church, volunteered for RSVP and served on its advisory board, Mobile Meals, and Mercy Medical Center. He was a life member of the following veterans organizations: the VFW, Clinton AMVETS, and the American Legion, and a member Clinton Moose Lodge.

Al is survived by his wife: Gealea of Fulton; one son: Steven (Mildred Stage) Woods of Fulton; two grandchildren: Erin (Adam) Ohsann, and James (Julie) Woods; six great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Andersen, and Marik Ohsann, and Cameron, Daniel, and Isabella Woods; his sister-in-law: Mary Woods of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents three brothers, and one sister.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church, RSVP – Clinton, or Camp Courageous.
