John “Jack” M. Struve age 92 of Clinton, died Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 24th at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Clinton. Pallbearers will be Thomas Struve, Steven Patten, Michael Goettsch, Duane Johnson, Alan Blasdell and James Johnson. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Jack was born in Almont on February 7, 1924, the son of Lyal and Leota (Petersen) Struve. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1942. Jack married Marjorie Goettsch on October 11, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church. Jack worked as a service manager for 39 years for McEleney Motors, retiring in 1986. Before going to MeEleney’s Jack worked with his father at the Almont Garage. Jack was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Oakland Cemetery Board, the former Odeon Club and a former member of the Fulton County Club. He and some friends had formed the Bell Air Investors group. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, bowling, golf and gardening. Jack is survived by his wife, Marge; two children, Thomas (Patricia) Struve of Solon, Iowa and Jaclyn (Steven) Patten of Rock Falls, Illinois; two granddaughters, Sheila and Laura and a sister Jeane Johnson of Andover, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rhea and June; and three brothers, David, Robert and Orin. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
