Mrs. Johanna Kuchel died at 1:25 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Creger, 1138 Kirkwood boulevard, Davenport, at the age of 85 years, after a lingering illness.

She was born in Oldenburg, Germany, September 7, 1834, and was married to Frederick Kuchel in 1865, who preceded her in death in 1884. The couple came to America to Clinton county in 1879.

For the past 24 years Mrs. Kuchel had lived with her daughter, Mrs. William Creger. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William Creger of Davenport, and Mrs. Fred Creger of Bonair, Iowa, and a son, John, of Lost Nation. Two son-in-laws, one daughter-in-law, seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral was held at 12 o'clock Monday noon from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Creger, Davenport, with services at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church, at Lost Nation, where Rev. George Vollmer officiated. Burial was made in the Lost Nation cemetery. The pallbearers were the following grandchildren: Herbert, Orville and Victor Creger, Glen, Edward and Millard Kuchel.
