A. Elizabeth "Betty" Jones, 90, of Clinton passed away Sunday February 28, 2016 at the Alverno Nursing Home.

In accordance with her wishes there will be no services or visitation. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Alice Elizabeth Jones was born on August 1, 1925 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of A. LeRoy and Erma (Pickering) Jones. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and her Master’s degree from Colorado State College.

Betty was a science teacher at Washington Middle School for years before retiring. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, WaTanYe, former member of AAUW, charter member of Alpha Beta, charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Theta Kappa Delta Pi, Delta Iota, and Nu Om Cron Nu Sigma Phi. Prior to and in retirement she enjoyed camping across the United States, traveling Europe and Africa and loved animals.

She is survived by two nephews Carmen R Scalero and Richard R Scalero and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert L Jones and her sister Dorothy Scalero.

Memorials can be made to the Clinton Humane Society.
