Robert J. DeLoe, 94, of Clinton, passed away, Monday, February 15, 2016 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be 10:00am, Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Boekeloo, Patrick Nowlin, Chris Nowlin, Chris Mullen, and Mike Keller. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home with a Rose Criox service concluding the visitation at 7:00pm.

Robert John DeLoe was born on October 22, 1921 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Henry and Susan (Striley) DeLoe. He was a 1942 graduate of Clinton High School. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942-1945. He married Shirley Thiesen on November 30, 1946 in Clinton; she died April 22, 2006.

Robert worked for Clinton Foods as a millwright for 25 years and was active with Local #6 serving on the executive board. He also worked for the Clinton Park Board as the mechanic for 10 years and for the Clinton County Highway Department for 2 years.

Robert was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, Western Star Lodge #100, and Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies. He enjoyed building and racing stock cars, building two cars that went on to nationals and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Bears fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Robert is survived by two daughters: Linda (Paul) Schindel of Clinton, and Beth DeLoe of Clinton; four grandchildren: Jason Boekeloo, Rebecca Keller, Patrick Nowlin, and Danielle Mullen; five great grandchildren: Haley & Brittany Keller, Christina Boekeloo, and Marley & Elijah Nowlin; and his nephew: Gene Nielsen of Clinton.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter; Robin, two brothers and one sister.

Memorials can be made to the family or a charity of your own choice.
