Edward W. Dalton, 75, of DeWitt, died early Saturday morning, February 27, 2016, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Davenport.

Edward William Dalton was born March 21, 1940, in Grand Mound to Harold and Mary Ellen (Forret) Dalton. He was a 1958 graduate of Grand Mound High School. Ed married Bernice “Bee” McQuistion August 24, 1962 in Clinton. He drove truck for Western Transportation and Blue Bird Transfer for many years until retirement. His wife Bee preceded him in death July 10, 2007.

He enjoyed socializing, watching old westerns, playing cards and riding his Harley.

Surviving are daughters, Ellen Dalton of Davenport and Julie Dale of Florida; grandchildren, Aaron Dale and Andrea Dale; brothers, Frederick “Fritz” Dalton of Camanche, John “Doug” (Rita) Dalton of DeWitt and Robert (Anne) Dalton of Davenport; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Merle (Cathy) McQuistion and Nick (Tracy) McQuistion of Fulton, Illinois, Marv (Vicki) McQuistion of Clinton, Fran VanHorn of Jonesboro, Georgia, Shirley Black of Bellevue and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ed in death in addition to his wife, were a daughter, Denise Dalton; his parents and a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mindy Dalton, Vernon McQustion and Robert “Bud” VanHorn.

The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2nd. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3rd at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be designated to Good Samaritan Society, Davenport.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Mike Kelly, Joe McQuistion, Pat McQuistion, Rob Dalton and Trent Dalton and nieces, Anita Dalton and Katie Hammond.
