Irene Christoff Vaughn, 87, of Clinton went to be with her Lord on January 15, 2016 at her home.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Church of the Open Door – Clinton. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service hour at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements. Irene was born on November 25, 1928, daughter of the late Velico and Rhoda (Georgiva) Christoff. She married Ronald Edward Vaughn on May 5, 1952. He passed away in 1996.

She was devoted member of the Church of the Open Door in Clinton. She attended many bible studies and spent a lot of time in prayer.

Irene was employed at the Clinton Garment Coompany for 25 year, during her time working she was active in ILGW union Local 303 representing the garment and textile workers of Iowa, also active in reopening the factory after it was temporarily closed down. She had the opportunity to receive an invitation from President Jimmy Carter and his wife to the White House for a reception by the Congress who gave the garment and textile workers a party when the NAFTA trade bill was passed. She was active in the Clinton Labor Congress for the democratic party. She served on the Library board for 12 year.

Irene is survived by one sister Rosemary (Bob) Weiser of Mesa, Arizona, one brother George Christoff of Clinton, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, and one brother.
