Thomas J. “Tom” Klinkner, age 85, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at his home. A Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 in Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. until the service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Dan, Christopher, Sam and Ben Parker, Jim Heidt and John Kjergaard. Honorary casket bearer will be Louie Harmon. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Tom was born in Clinton on October 3, 1930, the son of George and Helen (Keogh) Klinkner. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1948 and then attended Clinton Junior College. Tom married Janet “Jan” Crumley on June 9, 1956 at St. Mary’s Church. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired as Chief Yard Clerk from the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in 1992 after 43 years. Tom was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, AMVETS, Loyal Order of Moose, NARVE and the Clinton Ecumenical Council.

Tom is survived by his wife, Jan; two daughters, Laura (Ken) Konieczny of Tinley Park, IL and Diane (Dan) Devine of Garland, TX; a son, Philip Klinkner of New Hartford, NY; four grandchildren, Marie (John) Kelly, Megan Devine and Honorine and Grant Klinkner; a brother, Charles Klinkner of Clinton and a special niece, Kara Marr and family of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kate and Estelle and a brother George William in infancy. Memorials may be made to the Prince of Peace Building Fund.
