Wayne L. Lind, 82, of Clinton, passed away, Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Alverno.
Funeral Services will be 10:30am, Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Lyons United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS Post #28. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-4:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A 4:00pm Rose Criox service will follow the visitation.

Wayne Leonard Lind was born on September 28, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Mildred (Schocker) Lind. He was later raised by his step-father William Ottaway. He was a 1952 graduate of Lyons High School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1953 until being discharged in 1957. He served on the USS Manchester and the USS St. Paul. After being discharged he married Patsy “Pat Lou” Bryant on April 19, 1958 in Savanna; she died on June 17, 2002.

Wayne was a firefighter for the City of Clinton serving for 30 years retiring in 1988 as a Lieutenant. He was a member of Lyons Methodist Church serving as its former financial secretary. He was a 50 year member and past master of Lyons Lodge #93, Clinton Scottish Rite Bodies, and KAABA Shrine. He was also a member of the Clinton AMVETS and the Fulton American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Fulton Country Club, belonged to the “Die Hard Cub” Fan Club since 1945, an avid Hawkeye and Chicago Bears fan, and loved to cook and collect recipes.

Wayne is survived by two sons: Wayne (Elizabeth) Lind, Jr. o f Clinton; Kenny (Cindi) Lind of Camanche; two daughters: Diane (Todd) Florence of Clinton, and Nancy Stevenson of Clinton; five grandchildren: Billy (Christi) Lind, Bobby Lind, Nicholas Parker, Erica (Cody) Double, Maria (Ben) Christenson, and Kaylee Stevenson; three great-grandchildren: Ryan & Ethan Lind, and Aliya Christenson; two brothers: Larry Lind, Jr. of Clinton, and Vincent (Letha) Ottaway of West Liberty; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, and a son-in-law: Daniel Stevenson.

Memorials can be made to Lyons United Methodist Church or the Shriner’s Hospital.
