Mary A. Collins, 67, of Clinton, passed away, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at her home – Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Second Missionary Baptist Church – Clinton. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Trevor Betts, Prentiss Walton, Sam Miller, Laurence Nimmers, OJ Payne, and Ronnie Gibson. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service hour at the church. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting her obituary at www.snellzornig.com.
Mary Alice Collins was born April 18, 1948 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of Henry and Lucy (Lowe) Armour, Sr.. She was a 1966 graduate of Clinton High School. She attendended Clinton Community College for 2 years studying nursing. She married Mitchell “Shorty” Collins on May 13, 1966 in Galena, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2015.
Mary was a caregiver. She worked in the hospital as a CMA for many years and took care of many children during her life. She also worked as a secretary at the hospital.
She loved to crochet, read, and spend time with her beloved dogs. She also loved to fish, her entire family enjoyed fishing when she was a girl. Her and Shorty would fish together but it really was Mary’s passion. Mary also loved to read romance novels and spend time at home.
Mary is survived by her children: Melissa “Missy” (Ben Kock) Hart of Clinton, Michael Collins of Clinton, and Marian “NaNa” Armour of Clinton; three grandchildren: LaTisha, Evander and Breanna Hart; one great granddaughter, Arabella; two brothers: Charles (Betty Ann) Jackson of Etowa, Tennessee and Sidney James “Boo” Armour of Clinton; a special friend and caregiver: Carol Hutchins of Clinton; beloved dog Ianna; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In additon to her her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Henry Armour, Jr., and her dog Precious.
