Marie J. Bennett, 77, of Clinton passed away, Monday, December 21, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center – Clinton.
Funeral Services will be 9:30 am, Thursday, December 24, 2015 at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Camanche. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Marie Joyce Stickell was born March 6, 1938 in Freeport, Illinois, the daughter of Norman and Frances (Prins) Stickell. She was a 1956 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Douglas M. Bennett on June 4, 1957 in Montgomery City, Missouri; he passed away on December 9, 2015. They were married 58 years and died twelve days apart.
Marie worked for the International Paper as a quality inspector for 25 years retiring in 1999. She also worked for the Clinton Garments Company, Woolworth’s, and Target. She was co-owner of Doug’s Hideaway.
Marie was a past matron of the Clinton Eastern Star #65, she was a polling center worker, and a worthy high priest and past maternal objective with Maqi Shrine.
She was an active member in the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Camanche. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with her family.
Marie is survived by her two sons: Joseph “Ross” Bennett of Oelwein, Iowa and Jeffrey A. (Cheryl) Bennett of Kenton, Ohio; one daughter Katherine Lea (Jim) Frandsen of Clinton; eight grandchildren: Mariann Bennett, Brian Bennett, Aleshia (Matt) Hogreve, Jessica (Josh) Lingle, Katie Frandsen, Koner Frandsen, Christoper Bennett, and Jacob Bennett; eight great grandchild; one brother: Robert L. Stickell of Teeds Grove, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Marie was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
