Sandra K. Bentrup Schaffer Brooks, 73, of Camanche, Iowa passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Camanche. Memorial services will be held at 6 PM, Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM Friday at the funeral home in Camanche. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.snellzornig.com.

Sandra K. Bentrup was born February 11, 1942 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Eunice (Wiedman) Bentrup. She was a 1960 Clinton High School graduate. Sandra married Ernest Schaffer in Clinton; she later married Terry W. Brooks in 1996 in Camanche; he died December 29, 2014.

Sandra was employed as a stenographer for the government after high school; she owned Sandy’s Tap in Charlotte for many years and had been employed as a bartender at several Camanche taverns. She had also been a secretary for many years and had been a CNA at Clinton Retirement Village.

Sandra was known for her compassion, giving nature and awesome sense of humor.

She is survived by her children, Joel (Dhana) Chandler of Omaha, NE; Brenda (Rich) Bedosky of Lewisburg, PA; Steven Schaffer of Clinton, IA; Denise (Shaun Meiser) Mussmann of Camanche, IA; Marty (Jenny) Brooks of Rapids City, IL; Guy (Sabrina Dooley) Brooks of Riverdale, IA; Jill (Doug) Witt of Clinton and Julie Brooks of Camanche, IA; Sister, Karen (Paul) Hansen of Clinton, IA; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Phyllis Shadduck and brother, Donald Bentrup.
