Douglas M. Bennett, 78, of Clinton passed away, Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at The Villages Rehabilitation Facility in Lady Lake, Florida.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday December 19, 2015 at the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Camanche. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Douglas Monroe Bennett was born December 31, 1936 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph W. and Mildred M. (Monroe) Bennett. He was a Clinton High School graduate. He married Marie J. Stickell on June 4, 1957 in Montgomery City, Missouri.

Doug worked at Waukesha Engine for 36 years. He retired in 1978 when the plant closed. He owned and operated Doug’s Hideaway. In his retired years he worked for Burke Cleaners part time and was security at Water Oak’s Country Club.

Doug was a past ambassador of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, proud Boy Scout Leader of Troop 121, worthy patron of the Eastern Star, past watchman of Shepard’s with Maqi Shrine, Camanche Lodge #60 – Clinton Chapter of the York Right Bodies, and he volunteered for 150 hours with the Red Cross.

He was an active member in the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Camanche. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with his family.

Doug is survived by his wife Marie, two sons: Joseph “Ross” Bennett of Oelwein, Iowa and Jeffrey A. (Cheryl) Bennett of Kenton, Ohio; one daughter Katherine Lea (Jim) Frandsen of Clinton; eight grandchildren: Mariann Bennett, Brian Bennett, Aleshia (Matt) Hogreve, Jessica (Josh) Lingle, Katie Frandsen, Koner Frandsen, Christoper Bennett, and Jacob Bennett; eight great grandchild; two sisters: Natalee (William) Dieckman of Camanche and Sally Beth (Mike) Chapman of Camanche; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a step sister Joan Bennett.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church building fund.
