Donna M. Sherwood, of Fulton, passed away, Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center – Clinton. Services for Donna will be private. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donna Marie Sherwood was born July, 4, 1930 in Baldwin, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Florence (Caven) McCutcheon. She was a 1947 graduate of Delmar High School in Delmar, Iowa. She graduated from Mt. St. Clare College in Clinton, Iowa with an Associate of Arts Degree. She graduated from Marycrest College, Davenport, Iowa receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She also attended two summers at Colorado State Teacher’s College in Greeley, Colorado and she attended summer school at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.

Donna was an elementary school teacher for 35 years of which 30 were with the Clinton Community Schools. She took an early retirement in 1988.

Donna married Clayton Thomas Sherwood on June 15, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clinton, Iowa.

Donna was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton, Iowa, past member of the Clinton Education Association, the Iowa State Education Association and a life member of the National Education Association. She was a retired member of the Iowa State Education Association and a member of the Quad City Plus 60 Club.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband, both in the United States and abroad. They traveled to many countries in Europe and some of those several times. She and her husband loved Ireland. They traveled there four times over the years. They traveled all over the continental United States, Canada many time, and to Hawaii. She enjoyed the theatre, art museums and galleries, reading, walking, and crossword puzzles.

Donna is survived by her husband, Clayton Thomas Sherwood of Fulton, Illinois; many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Christine Marie Sherwood; four brothers: Perry, Marvin, Kenneth, and Kermit McCutcheon; and one sister: Glatha M. Ales.

Memorials may be made to the Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton.
