Carma E. Sinkey, 90, of Camanche went to meet her Lord on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics – Iowa City, Iowa, surrounded by her family after a series of strokes.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the First Baptist Church – Camanche. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Clay Sander, Nate Sander, Rodney Walkup, Ethan Bolte, Dan Bolte, and Dan Sinkey. Visitation will be from 9:00am to the service time Saturday at the church. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family.

Carma Elaine Bergert was born on December 11, 1924 in Scott County the daughter of Detlef and Meta (Ehlers) Bergert. She was married to Ernest "Ben" Sinkey on July 6, 1946; he passed away August 3, 2004.

Carma was a processer for Nielsens for many years. She also worked for Bev Tyler’s Grocery Store in Camanche.

Carma was gifted with a strong commitment to family, possessed an often-surprising wit and, even in her later years, retained boundless energy and hopefulness. Her interests were varied and wide-ranging, from music, theater and sports to gardening and card-playing - whether with family or as a member of a card club. Additionally, as a member of the First Baptist Church of Camanche, she was a student and teacher of Sunday Bible studies and a volunteer for many of the church functions throughout the years. Mostly, however, she will be remembered by family and friends for her vibrant personality, generous heart and faithful soul. May God Bless.

She is survived by her daughter: Candace Sander of Camanche and son-in-law: Dan Bolte also of Camanche. Grandchildren: Clay and Kathy Sander, Ethan and Lisa Bolte, Nate and Mary Sander, Rachel and Rodney Walkup. Great grandchildren: Michaela, Daniel, Alayah, and Halle Walkup, Christian, Noah and Samuel Bolte, Lucy and Gwen Sander.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter Sally Bolte on August 17, 2013.

Memorials can be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the University of Iowa.
