Shirley E. Lant, 88, of Clinton, passed away, Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Monday, October 12, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service hour at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Ron Judd, Troy Said, Gary Said, Landry Said, Danny Guerrero, and Derrick Said. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
Shirley Eloise Haring was born November 17, 1926 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Dague) Haring. She was a 1944 graduate of Clinton High School. She married Laurence Lant on May 27, 1949 in Clinton; he preceded her in death on December 13, 1982.
Shirley worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for Glew Implement for 16 years and Barrow Enterprises for 12 years. She was a lifelong member of the Clinton community.
Shirley was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clinton for over 50 years. She was active with the United Methodist Women and the Circle of Hope Church Circle. She served on numerous committees over the years. She also served on the cancer board and Reach for Recovery. She loved the outdoors and traveling.
Shirley is survived by her son Robert (Barbara) Schwartz of LeClaire; step-son: Laurence Lant of Monmouth, Illinois; 6 grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Larry, Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Princeton Zion Lutheran Church.
