William A. Walker age 89 of Clinton passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Alverno Health Care Facility. As was Bill’s wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned. There will be a private family burial at Oakland Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home assisted the family.
Bill was born in Clinton on December 23, 1925, the son of Edwin M. and Minnie Grace (Angell) Walker. He graduated from Lyons High School. Bill served with the United States Navy during W.W. II on board the submarine, USS Balao in the South Pacific. He married Ruth H. Hart on December 21, 1973 in Rock Island. Ruth passed away in 1991. Bill was employed at E.I DuPont for 35 years, retiring in 1982. He had been an active member of the former Grace Episcopal Church. He and his wife Ruth belonged to the Clinton Country Club and Valley Oaks where they enjoyed playing golf together. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking, dancing, and playing cards.
Bill is survived by a son, Mark (Donna) Walker of Rush Valley, Utah; five step-daughters, Lori (Kerry) Kennedy of Clinton, Marci Broderson of Brighten, MI, Tori (Jeff) Maxfield of Reedsburg, WI, Joni (Jim) Dolan of Clinton, and Mari-Jo (Robert) Judd of North Liberty, IA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, including Bradley (Lindsey) Kennedy, Kara Kennedy, Kehly Kennedy, and Landon Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his mother Minnie, his step-father, Earl Provin, and his wife, Ruth.
