Muriel E. “Queen of Clubs” (Penny) Harksen, age 69 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center North. Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Following the service, a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Penny’s life will start at 2:00 P.M. at the Silver Dollar on Main Ave. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Penny was born in Denver, Colorado on November 4, 1946, the daughter of William H. and Lydia L. (Burtis) Toureene. She enjoyed following the Arizona and St. Louis Cardinals. Penny enjoyed spending time with her dogs, shooting her bow, fishing, crocheting and the Wild Rose Casino. She was known for “reading cards” and telling your fortune.
Penny is survived by her life-long companion, Dave Harksen; four sisters, Patsy (Gerald) Schaffer of Mesa, AZ, Peggy Elliott of Peoria, IL, Charlene Brondyke of Clinton and Ray (Tom) Naughton of Clinton; a brother, Harry (Mary) Toureene of Fulton and many nieces and nephews.
