Shirley M. (Petersen) Smith age 82 of Anacortes, WA, formerly of Clinton, passed away Wednesday Nov. 18, 2015. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday Nov. 28th at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation will be held Saturday 9:30 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at Center Grove Cemetery near Bryant. Pallbearers will be Ronald, Steven, Thomas, and James Coder, and Tony Petersen. Online condolences may be left atwww.papefh.com
Shirley was born on Nov. 29, 1932 in Bryant, IA, the daughter of Morris and Alma (Voss) Petersen. She graduated from Charlotte High School in 1949. She married Pierce Smith in 1978 in Los Angeles, CA. She worked for the US Government for several years, TEAC electronics, and was also homemaker and remarkable cook. She was a member of the Lutheran Faith. She enjoyed her extended family, pets and had a love for all animals.
Shirley is survived by her four stepchildren, Nadine, Nancy, Whit and Craig; grandchildren, April, Devon, and Holil; and great grandchildren Courtney, Parker, Charles, Rainey and Piper; two sisters, Darlene Coder of Clinton and June Houser of Waukesha, WI; three brothers, Richard (Sharon) Petersen of Clinton, Kenneth (Nancy) Petersen of Morrison, IL, and Larry V. (Joyce) Petersen of Clinton; and several nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Pierce, and two sisters, Donna DeSaw and Jean Marie Petersen.
