Stephen T. Stumbaugh, age 73, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P M. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Following the service cremation rites will be accorded.

Stephen was born in Clinton on August 22, 1942, the son of Sam and Florence (Meinke) Stumbaugh. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1960. He married Penny R. Martensen on September 3, 1960 in Sterling. Penny passed away on January 25, 2008. While in high school Stephen had been a member of the 1958 Clinton High School swimming team which won the state championship. He had been an Eagle Scout and a life guard at the Clinton pool. He was a member of the former Odeon Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Stephen loved the river. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping, hunting and cooking. He followed the Iowa Hawkeye’s, Chicago Bears and the Cubs.

Stephen is survived by three daughters, Lori Hinsch, Stephanie West and Stacy (James) Evers all of Clinton; a son, Jason (Leslie) Stumbaugh of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Laurisa, Chelse, Kendra, Matt, Hannah, Aaron, Garrett and Kaitlyn; a great grandson, Reece and a sister, Elle Kennedy of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a sister, Audrey. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospital Dialysis. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
