Gayla R. Rixen age 77 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday October 28, 2015 at Mercy Living Center North. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 1st at the Pape Funeral Home. According to her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and burial will be held at Smith Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com

Gayla was born on April 18, 1938 in Clinton, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Buckley) Spooner. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1956. She married Frank Rixen on August 18, 1956 in Clinton; he died April 28, 1996. She worked at the Eagle Point Lodge for many years. She was a member of the former Odeon Club. She was an active member of her class reunion committee. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her dog.

Gayla is survived by her four children, Kim Rixen (Scott Bratthauer) of Bryant, IA, Chris (Christy) Rixen of Clinton, Joe Rixen of Clinton and Dave Rixen of Andover; 6 grandchildren, Will, Joey (Amanda), Zach (Tiffany), R.J., Madalyn and Megan; 4 great grandchildren, Piper, Dylan, Dallas and Destiny; a brother, David (Micky) Spooner of Clinton and a sister, Marcia Lass of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Angie, two sisters, Jackie and Kay, and three brothers, Art, Dwayne, and Ross.
