Donald E. Greenslade, age 82, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Eagle Point Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 16, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the service time Monday at the Church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Donald was born in Cresco, Iowa on March 15, 1933, the son of Elmer and Annette “Nettie” (Halverson) Greenslade. He graduated from Assumption High School in Cresco in 1952 and attended college in Chicago where he earned an AA Degree. Donald served with the U.S. Army for two years at the White Sands Proving Grounds. He had been employed as an engineer at International Paper and later at Custom Pak. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church. Donald designed and manufactured many packaging patents. He enjoyed visiting with his friends and family, working on his many projects, and living on the Mississippi River.
Donald is survived by children Kathleen (David) Lundberg of Bettendorf, Iowa and Mark Norman of Wesley Chapel, Florida; was preceded in death by two children, Stacy Hessong and Steve Norman; has six grandchildren, Matthew, Megan, Meara, Anna, Hunter and Janie; two great grandchildren, Tanner and Adelynn and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two children; four brothers, Paul, Richard, Elmer and Robert and two sisters, Mary and Viola. Memorials may be made to the Clinton Humane Society.
