Louisa Bernice Pelham was born near Malone, Iowa, June 9th, 1873. She was married to Frank Slapnika March 24th, 1897, and died at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, March 10th, 1912, at the age of 38 years, 9 months, and one day.

She leaves to mourn her loss a bereaved husband and five children - Rosa, aged 13 years; Maynard, aged 10 years; Marjorie, aged 7 years; Marion, aged 4 years; Lawrence, aged 7 months. Also her grief-stricken father, mother, two brothers and one sister, Mrs. Clair Tobey of McCausland, Iowa; Leroy L. Pelham of DeWitt, Iowa, and Dean at home.

The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon in Malone, conducted by Rev. Neil, pastor of the United Presbyterian church of DeWitt, who preached an appropriate and touching sermon. The Misses Charlotte and Mae Gostic and Helen Large conducted the singing and Miss Ruth Seifert acted as pianist. A large number from Malone and DeWitt were present to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of the deceased who was so dearly beloved by the large circle of friends. Interment was held in the Malone cemetery. The pallbearers were Rolla Pelham, Bruce Pelham, Neilly Pelham, J. Pelham, C. Pelham and Ed. Hanson.

Submitters note: Louisa Pelham was the daughter of Cyrenius Pelham and Charlotte Taylor. Louisa Slapnicka is now buried at the Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt, Iowa.
