Eleanor Faye “Ellie” Olson, 71, of Ocklawaha, Florida, formerly of Low Moor, Iowa, died Thursday morning, December 18, 2014, at Ocala Regional Hospital, Ocala, Florida.

Eleanor Faye Hoffmann was born September 8, 1943, to Clarence and Beatrice (Smith) Hoffmann in Davenport, Iowa. She was a 1962 graduate of Central High School in DeWitt, Iowa. In 1964 Ellie married Marlon Olson at the DeWitt Methodist Church. She was a farm wife, had a cake catering business, and became a certified sous chef. She was later married to Jim Kloss. In 1995 she moved to Florida, and has lately been spending her summers in New Gloucester, Maine, with her special friend, Keith Walker.

Ellie had been a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Calamus, Iowa. She was also a member of the Eagle’s Club and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed cooking, golfing, fishing, camping, the outdoors, playing dominoes, cards, pool, playing games with her grandchildren, and baking. She made pies and cakes for friends and family her whole life.

Ellie is survived by her children, Alan (Joey) Olson of Bernard, Iowa, Lynn (Katie) Olson of DeWitt, Linnae (Daniel Jr.) Wingate of Davenport; grandchildren, Marissa, Maranda, and Nolan Olson, Ryan, Lauren, Tyler, and Kinnick Olson, Daniel III, Nathan, Brandon, and Samantha Wingate; sisters, Lonni (Gene) Meyers, Kathy Matthiesen, Janice Richardsen, Carelyn Dann; a brother, Otto (Tootie) Olsen; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Lori Swim; and brother-in-law, John Dann.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Calamus, Iowa, with Vicar Paul Waterman officiating. Burial will follow at Kvindherred Cemetery, rural Calamus.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established.
