Arlo D. Drury, 83, died on Veterans Day Tuesday, November 11 at Mercy Medical Center after a short hospital visit.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, November 14, 2014 at Chancy Lutheran Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Tyler, Alexandra, Tim, and Maggie and nephews, Mike and Marty Drury. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Matt, Bradley and Tomas Drury. Arlo was born June 16, 1931 in Bellevue, Iowa, the son of John (Jack) and Marie Drury. He was a Preston High School graduate and a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War. He married Helen Klauser on September 1, 1957 in Maquoketa and they were members of Chancy Lutheran Church in Clinton.
For twelve years he was employed as a Deputy Sheriff for Clinton County and was employed for 13 years for Ralston Purina. He retired as a school crossing guard for Clinton Schools.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Clinton; daughter, Brenda Sue (Danny Houzenga) of Morrison; son, Timothy (Johnna) of Camanche; son, Daniel (Ruth) of Hoffman Estates, IL; son, Douglas Drury of Clinton; son, Gary David of Chicago; son, Randy (Joan) of Menomonee Falls, WI; brother, Richard (Betty) of Clinton and seven grandchildren: Tyler, Alexandra, Matt, Bradley, Tomas, Maggie and Tim.
At the family’s request his brain will be donated to University of Florida, Ataxia Research Center, Gainesville, FL.
