Ruth Schroeder, 97, of Clinton passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Bickford Cottage, Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am, Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Quaintance, Mark Johnson, Jay Zickau, Darrell Koch, Merwin Koch, and Virgil Koch. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Maggie Buech and Amy Finn from McKinley Street, Sheila and Terresa from El Toro, Barb Quaintance and Dale Bertramsen. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00am to the service time at the funeral home.

Ruth Grumstrup was born on July 3, 1917 in Clinton County, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Maude (Stoltenberg) Grumstrup. She was a 1934 graduate of Clinton High School. She attended Wartburg College. She married Carl W. Schroeder on November 16, 1940 in Clinton; he died December 1, 1979.

Ruth was the head cashier at Sears & Roebuck for 32 years retiring in 1987. She also taught country school in Clinton and Jackson County for 7 years and farmed with her husband for 21 years.

Ruth was a life member of the Women of the Moose, former Deputy Grand Regent, Star Recorder, member of the College of Regents for Women of the Moose, Honorary Citizen of Mooseheart, a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Martha Circle. She enjoyed frequenting McKinley Street Taverne and El Toro.

Ruth is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, and two brothers.

Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
