The Clinton Herald Thursday December 22, 1955 p. 15 Mrs. Richard Welsh, 74, of DeWitt, died at 8 a.m. today in her home following a heart attack. She had been in poor health the past year. Friends may call after 7:30 tonight at the McGinnis funeral home. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home by Rev. E.A. Cone. Requiem mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery. The former Estella Katherine McDonald was born Aug. 4, 1881 at Lanesboro, Minn., to the late Patrick and Mary Ellen Crowley McDonald. She was educated in schools there and taught in Emery S.D., where she was married Feb. 15, 1904, to Richard Welsh. They farmed five years at Petersville, on the home place northwest of DeWitt for 33 years and retired 12 years to DeWitt. They observed their golden wedding anniversary last year and he died March 22, 1955. Surviving are two sons, Raymond of Grand Mound and Leo of DeWitt; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Burke of Chicago, Mrs. Leo (Estella) Connell of DeWitt, Mrs. H.J. (Evangelina) Wenzlick of Bremerton, Wash. and Geraldine of Iowa City; 16 grandchildren; one brother, Frank of Hollywood, Calif., and three sisters, Mrs. Helen Curtin of Emery, S.D., Mrs. Susie McMaster of Alexandria, S.D. and Mrs. Mary McDonnell of Hollywood.
