Thomas Lee Mickelson, 66, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Monday morning, September 29, 2014, at Manor Care, Davenport, Iowa.

Thomas Lee Mickelson was born February 17, 1948, in Clinton, Iowa, to Donald V. and Ruth (Carber) Mickelson. After graduating from DeWitt High School in 1966, he worked for Mississippi Engineering, and later Central Steel Tube for 18 years. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Morris on July 29, 1971, in Rock Island, Illinois. The couple resided in the rural McCausland area until moving to DeWitt in 1994. Tom worked for Diamond Vogel Paint in Davenport, Iowa, for 25 years.

Tom attended the McCausland United Methodist Church. He loved his grandchildren, attending all their school events. Tom also enjoyed mowing the lawn, puttering in his shop, his birds, and being outdoors with his dogs.

Surviving are his loving wife of 43 years, Lorraine; his children Donnie (Renee) Mickelson of Andover, Iowa, Cassie (Mark) Boomershine of DeWitt; grandchildren, Ashley, Levi, Emily, Travis, Luke, and Jacob; brothers, Gary (Edna) Mickelson, Ray (Myra) Mickelson both of DeWitt, and Ed (Cheryl) Mickelson of Moline, Illinois; sister, Robin (Terry) Simpson of Cincinnati, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014, at McCausland United Methodist Church, McCausland, Iowa, Pastor Ruth Ann Scott officiating. Burial will follow at McCausland Cemetery.
