Barbara Lou (Mrs. Eugene “Slim”) Eckelberg, 80, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, September 16, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport, Iowa.

Mrs. Eckelberg was born Barbara Lou Fuglsang, on March 24, 1934, to Harold and Marvel (Barker) Fuglsang, in Welton, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Eugene “Slim” Eckelberg on February 24, 1954, in Maquoketa, Iowa. The couple farmed and raised their family in the Grand Mound area. Slim preceded her in death on June 12 of this year.

Barb enjoyed baking and cooking, being together with family and friends and socializing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are children Dennis (Carol) Eckelberg of DeWitt, Linda (Poe) Williams of Binghamton, New York, and Pam Becker of Grand Mound; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Darlene (Steve) Tietjens of Sabula, Iowa, and Marvel (Alvin) Prusia of Delmar, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Ivy Fuglsang of Clinton, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, Slim, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, John, and Allen; sisters, Madonna and Phyllis; son, Jeffery; grandson, Dillon; and son-in-law, Del.

Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:15 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. A Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home, Pastor Dianne Prichard officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Mound, Iowa.
