Eugene R. Lord age 82 of Clinton, passed away Sunday Aug. 24, 2014 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday 4 – 7 PM at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service and burial will be a St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton at a later date. Eugene was born on Aug. 15, 1932 in Clinton, IA, the son of Vincent and Elsie (Detterman) Lord. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1950. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Eugene married Julia Babcock on Nov. 9, 1968 in Clinton. He owned and operated D & L Upholstery in Clinton and was a fireman for the Clinton Fire Department for over 20 years. He was a member of the Clinton AMVETS, VFW, Eagles Club, and was a master gardener, often volunteering at the Clinton Arboretum. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Eugene is survived by his two sons, Patrick Lord of Sierra Vista, AZ and Timothy Lord of Des Moines, IA; and two sisters, Audry Lemanski of Clinton and Merrette (Al) Horn of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in 2011.
