Jacque W. “Mick” Michaelsen age 91 of Clinton passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Mercy Living Center North. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Pape Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 P.M. Cremation rites will follow with burial at a later date in Oakland Cemetery. Honorary casket bearers will be his grandsons, Ryan and Jace Lorenzen and Gaige Tague and his nephews, Bryce and Stan Petersen and Jorge Faulkner. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Mick was born in Clinton on May 2, 1923, the son of John “Jack” and Vera (Monkton) Michaelsen. He graduated from Clinton High School and then served in the U.S. Army in Germany during W.W. II. On his return from the service he took a job as a mechanic at Rae Craddock’s Service where he met his future wife, Marlyn “Mena” Petersen, Rae’s niece. Mick and Mena were married on July 9, 1947 in St. Louis. Mena passed away on November 11, 2002.

He owned and operated “Mick’s Shell Station” just south of the Courthouse on 2nd St, then was a mechanic for Saunder’s System. He also owned and operated “Mick’s GMC Sales and Service” before he formed “MMM Trucking”. He specialized in diesels and heavy equipment including the Detroit 671 diesel. Mick loved working with his hands and had the reputation that he could build or fix anything. He was the neighborhood’s “Mr. Fix It”. He enjoyed cooking, making Christmas candy, gardening and perfecting his “Mr. and Mrs. M’s” Bloody Mary Mix.

Mick is survived by three children, Rick Michaelsen of Keokuk, Jackie (Craig) Lorenzen of Camanche and Kim (Tim) Tague of Bryant; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Donna Faulkner of Clinton and two sister-in-laws, Norma Roling and Dena Petersen both of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Darwin, a bomber pilot, who was killed when his plane was shot down during W.W. II. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
