John W. Bousman Sr. age 76 of Clinton, died Friday July 18, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, surrounded by his family. They released him from all medical intervention and he died naturally three hours later. John’s family deeply appreciates all the prayers and support during this latest struggle. He had a second chance at life almost twenty years ago. After experiencing “sudden death” he was revived and baptized. He then received a heart transplant.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday July 23rd at Christ Episcopal Church in Clinton. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Pape Funeral Home in Clinton, IA is assisting the family. The family requests no flowers. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
John was born on Oct. 20, 1937 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Orville “Bud” and Iva Mae (Wagoner) Bousman. He married Elizabeth “Betty” King on Oct. 8, 1955 in Clinton. John worked at Iowa Machine Works, Central Steel, and Clinton Engineering. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. His favorite pastime was bowling. John most recently was in the 55 Plus League and was a member of the 700 Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He wrote poetry and has had a book published.
John is survived by his wife, Betty Bousman of Clinton; four children, Betty “Snooks” (Mel) Moeller of Blaine, WA, John W. Bousman Jr. of Davenport, IA, Gerald (Trudy) Bousman of Rio Dell, CA, and Jeff (Maribeth) Bousman of Clinton; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; six brothers, Lloyd “Skip” (Sandy) Bousman, Chuck (Jackie) Bousman, James (Patsy) Bousman, Keith Bousman, and Arnie Bousman all of Clinton, and Ed (Sandi) Bousman of Camanche; two sisters, Lottie (Jay) McKenzie of Fulton, IL and Deloris Everson of Clinton; and two sisters-in-law. John was preceded in death by his parents; his step mother, Dorothy; a grandson; and two brothers.
