Brenda (Henning) Aiken, 68, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, on Friday morning, July 18, 2014.

Brenda Joyce Aiken was born May 18 1946, in Davenport, Iowa, to Milton and Audrey (Petersen) Henning. After graduation from Calamus Community High School, she attended AIC College in Davenport. Brenda worked at Ennis, Inc. in DeWitt for 44 years, retiring as a supervisor in 2011. She married Robert Aiken September 4, 1992. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2010.

Brenda was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Calamus, Iowa. She enjoyed playing cards, antiquing, shooting pool, and golfing. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Brenda is survived by her daughter, Kami (Mark) Meredith of Pioneer, Tennessee; step-children, Bonnie (Bobby) Grigsby of North Carolina, and Steve Aiken of Minneapolis, Minnesota; granddaughters, Jessica (Thomas) Davis of DeWitt, and Audrianna Clark of Pioneer, Tennessee; step-grandchildren, Afton and Siena Aiken; great-grandchildren, Brandon Cheel and Serenity Clark; brothers Douglas (Meryne) Henning of Calamus, Dennis (Kay) Henning of Wilton, and Craig (Sandy) Henning of Johnston, Iowa; sisters, Janelle (Warne) Ramsey of Littleton, Colorado, and Denice (Joe) Birdwell of Rockford, Tennessee; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Bob, she was preceded in death by her parents, and nephews, David and Mark Ramsey, and Jason Birdwell.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2014, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus. The Rev. Sarah Kretzmann will officiate. Burial will be at Kvindherred Cemetery, rural Calamus.

Nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
