Sharon Darlene Hayes, 69, of Calamus, Iowa, died early Saturday morning, July 26, 2014, at Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa.

Sharon was born December 23, 1944, in Clinton, Iowa, to Charles and Thora (Holst) Brockmiller. She was united in marriage to Roy J. Hayes on December 19, 1964, in Clinton, Iowa. The couple resided in Calamus where she raised her five children. She worked for a number of years at Westwing Place, in DeWitt. Roy preceded her in death on February 11, 2001.

Sharon was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus. She enjoyed, fishing, scenic drives, watching movies, country music, going to the casino, and teaching her grandchildren to bake. She loved her dogs, Cheena and Speckles.

Sharon is survived by her children, Grace (Timothy) Oldsen, Lawrence (Brenda) Hayes, Amy (Korey) Caves all of Calamus, Jamie Hayes of Wheatland, Adam Hayes of Grand Mound; grandchildren, Anthony (Vanessa), Sarah, Cassandra, Brienna, Lucas, Braeden, Brock, Katelyn, Madelyn, Anna Mae, Keegan, and Bridget; sister, Marilyn Bickel; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Roy, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and three brothers.

The family will greet visitors from 9:00 until 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church, Calamus. A Memorial Service will follow at 10:30 at the church. The Rev. Sarah E. Goettsch will officiate. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus.
