Gordon V. Schroeder age 85 of Clinton passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Mercy Living Center South. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Pape Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until the service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Gordon was born in Charlotte, Iowa on March 8, 1929 the son of George and Clara (Stenzel) Schroeder. He graduated from Clinton High School. Gordon married Garnet Taylor on September 21, 1951 in Iowa City. Garnet passed away on November 26, 2009. He had been employed with Clinton Corn Processing Company/ADM from 1957 until his retirement in 1991. He had also worked part time with Sears. Gordon had served with the Iowa National Guard. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed carpentry, camping, gardening, his morning walks, fishing and model airplane.

Gordon is survived by a daughter, Chery (Darrell) Gruntorad of Clinton; a son, Robert (Laura) Schroeder of Clinton; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Rodney (Chick) Schroeder of Sarasota, FL and a sister, Carole Lueders of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Barbara Huizinga in 2006; three brothers, Clifton, Orlyn and Wesley and a sister, Arlene.
