Ardelle E. Rettkowski age 88 of Lowden, Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Diana in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Ardelle was born in Clinton on November 11, 1925, the daughter of Vincent and Helen (Meinert) Carlsen. She graduated from Lyons High School. Ardelle married August Rettkowski on May 1, 1944 in Mt. Carroll, IL. August passed away in 1996. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden where she was active in the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and playing cards and bingo.

Ardelle is survived by six children; August (Evelyn) Rettkowski of Byfield, MA, Arthur (JoEllen) Rettkowski of Elyria, OH, Henry (Teresa) Rettkowski of Circleville, OH, Diana (Louis) Terlisner of Beaver Dam, WI, Kathy (Gean Moore) Paasch of Clinton and Linda (Roger) LaMaack-Weist of Ft. Atkins, IA; 26 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Virgil (Betty) Carlsen of Irmo, SC and many nieces and nephews.
