Helene Spain, 45, died Thursday at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Petersville. The Rev. Ed Botkin will celebrate the funeral Mass. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Petersville. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.
Pallbearers will be Joe DeVine, Neal Blanche, Mike, Tom and Todd McManus, Josh and Kevin Spain and Andy Hanson.
She was born January 5, 1959, in Clinton to Ronald and Mary DeVine Spain. On December 12, 1987, she married David Cook in DeWitt.
She was a high school English teacher with the Northeast School District. She was a member of the N.C.E.A. She also was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Petersville.
Survivors include her husband, David Cook; three sons all at home, Dylan Lee Cook, Taylor Layne Cook and Riley Daniel Cook; her mother, Mary Spain of DeWitt; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Michael and Nancy Cook of Greenville, S.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Kay (Mike) McManus of DeWitt, Mrs. Jo Ellen (Dave) Hanson of Rochester, Minn., and Mrs. Barbara Ann (Tom) Skoff of Sugar Creek; and three brothers, Bob Spain of Ankeny, Bill (Chris) Spain of Charlotte and Perry (Julene) Spain of Goose Lake.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother.
