Thomas Michael Hansen was born November 25, 1916 in Clinton, Iowa, to George and Blanche (Farrell) Hansen. He married Theresa Reuter on June 4, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sugar Creek, Iowa.
They farmed near Charlotte until 1962, when they moved to DeWitt. At first Tom sold Moorman's Livestock Feed and then was a technician for artificial insemination of dairy cows. Later he worked for the State of Iowa Liquor Store, where he became manager.
After his retirement in 1978, he enjoyed playing cards, making crafts and latch hook rugs. Tom was an avid Cubs fan.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Theresa; a son, Tim Hansen and his wife, Bonnie, DeWitt; a daughter, Mona Kay Clapp and her husband, Carl, Camanche; three grandchildren, Tom, Bill, and Sarah Clapp; also surviving are a brother, Jack Hansen, Clinton; four sisters, Gladys Meighan, Sterling, Illinois; Carmilla Nelson, Dixon, Illinois; Patricia Haferbier and Dorothy (Edward) Langrehr, Clinton.
Preceding Tom in death were his parents; a sister, Winifred Perion and an infant brother, Holger.
