Richard C. Wulf, 78, of Grand Mound, Iowa, died Tuesday afternoon, June 24, 2014 at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa.

Richard Carl Wulf was born January 28, 1936, in Davenport, Iowa to Carl and Grace (Doerscher) Wulf. He attended high school in DeWitt. Following school Richard farmed at rural Long Grove and worked as a hauler of canned milk from local farms to the dairy. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1958 until 1960. Upon honorable discharge, he returned to farming. On May 18, 1963, Richard was united in marriage to Verla Niemann at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. The couple farmed in the Long Grove area until 1975, at which time they moved to Bliedorn.

He was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bliedorn where he served on the church council. Richard also served on Scott County Dairy Promotion Board, Scott County Pork Producers Board and Clinton County Farm Bureau Board. He was a member and past president of the Calamus Lions Club and was also very active in the Friendship Force of the Quad Cities. Richard enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends. His real passion was farming which he continued to do until very recently.

Surviving are his wife, Verla and their son, Michael of Grand Mound; brothers, Dale (Karen) Wulf of Walcott, Iowa, Marvin (Betty) Wulf of Boonville, Missouri, Gary (Diane) Wulf of Donahue, Iowa, Leon (Marcia) Wulf of Long Grove and Dean Wulf of Davenport; nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Eleanor Niemann of Walcott.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merle and Janice Niemann.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bliedorn with Vicar Martha HarriSon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials may be given to Camp Courageous, St. John’s Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
