Mr. Jack H. Campbell, 94 of Grand Mound, Iowa, died early Sunday morning, May 4, 2014, at Westwing Place, DeWitt, Iowa.
Jack Henry Campbell was born September 10, 1919, in Clinton County, Iowa. He was one of two children born to Earl and Rose (Griebel) Campbell. Jack graduated from Grand Mound High School. On April 21, 1941, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Dalton at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. The couple raised their family and farmed in the Grand Mound area. Although Jack retired from farming in the mid 1980's, he remained a farmer all of his life. His wife, Dorothy preceded him in death on March 23, 1994.
He was a longtime member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound. He loved his family dearly and was a strong supporter of the Grand Mound Community.
Surviving are children, Barbara (David) Aldape of Davenport, Iowa, Richard (Bonnie) Campbell of Grand Mound, Dean (Marie) Campbell of Rockford, Illinois, Kathaleen Brown of Huxley, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Bartling of Grand Mound; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter-in-law.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held a 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, Grand Mound, with the Rev. Fr. Bill Kneemiller officiaing. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Grand Mound.
Pallbearers will be Laurie Nelson, Kathie Sykora, Dennis Campbell, Jim Campbell, Chris Haring and Kirk Gustafson.
