Max E. Casad, 60, of DeWitt, Iowa passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, May 3, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.

Max Edward Casad was born July 12, 1953, in DeWitt, Iowa to Glen and Delora (Wilms) Casad. He attended Wheatland, Iowa schools. At an early age Max learned the auto body trade from his father who owned and operated Wheatland Auto Body. Max went on to become the owner and operator of DeWitt Auto Body and Casad Towing. Max's success was due to his tireless work ethic, commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. He believed in giving back to the community and supporting local business. Max was always ready and willing to help others. His final selfless gift was that of being an organ donor.

He married Neva Washam October 7, 2003, in DeWitt. Max was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and Neva shared a special bond of love and respect. Max's greatest pride and source of happiness were his grandchildren. He loved his family dearly and cherished time spent with them. Max was a loyal friend to many and will be greatly missed.

Max felt one of his greatest achievements was acquiring his Private Pilot's License and owning his own aircraft. He had various hobbies and interests including home improvement projects, Harley Davidson's and numerous other toys.

Surviving are his wife, Neva; children, Michelle (Tom) Hernandez of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Troy Washam of Atalissa, Iowa; siblings, Judy (Owen) Boedeker of Wheatland, Jane Bentrott of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Janet Oberg of Moline, Illinois; grandchildren, Maili, Rylie, Devrey and Abrey Hernandez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Max in death were his parents.

The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland. The Rev. John Cofield will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul's Cemetery, Wheatland.

Memorials may be made to Clinton County Sheriff's Department, Iowa State Patrol or DeWitt Police Department for special projects or St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland.
