Rachel Lange, 48, of Calamus, Iowa, died Thursday afternoon, May 1, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

She was born August 17, 1965, in Clayton, Georgia, to Donald LeRoy and Julia Ann (Smith) Moody. Rachel was raised in Clarksville, Georgia, moving to Tamaroa, Ilionois in 1982. She enjoyed people and found her niche in the food service industry. On August 9, 1997, Rachel was united in marrriage to Melvin Lange at Calamus, Iowa. She was employed by Maid Rite in Christopher, Illinois, prior to moving to Iowa, where she was employed at McDonald's in DeWitt, Iowa, for over 15 years. Mel preceded Rachel in death on Sept. 28, 2007.

Rachel was a hard worker and dearly loved the places she worked as well as the people she served. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed NASCAR, especially in the days of Dale Earnhardt, Sr.

Surviving are a daughter, Jennifer; a step-daughter, Magan; siblings, Mary (Michael) Simion of Mulkeytown, Illinois, Don Moody of DuQuoin, Illinois, and Marie (Rock) Wright of Odin, Illinois; a special friend, Keith "Buck" Griebel of Calamus; a grandson, a granddaughter, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mel, Rachel was preceded in death by a son, Elvis Scott Green, her parents and an infant brother, Daniel Moody.

The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, Grand Mound, from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, in the Funeral Home with the Rev. Sarah E. Kretzmann officiating. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus.
