Mr. Paul Vincent Convey, of DeWitt, Iowa passed away Monday evening, May 5, 2014 in his home.
He was the son of James Francis and Mary Elizabeth (Murphy) Convey, born on March 23, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Paul was married to Evelyn Leona Hines on January 2, 1950, in the St. Ambrose Cathedral, Des Moines, Iowa. They were married just short of 59 years at the time of her death on December 25, 2008. Paul served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Crisis. He graduated from Creighton University and worked over 30 years upon retiring as an Auditor in the Inspector General's Office, Rock Island Arsenal in December 1978.
Surviving are a son, Gregory (Bonnie) Convey; daughters, Regina (Philip) Heldt, Maria (William) Frame and Eveline (Enrique) Fungate; a brother, Dale Convey; a sister, Margaret Faye Convey; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, Paul was preceded in death by a son, Christopher; his parents; brothers, George, James and Joseph and sisters, Florence Convey and Mary Ellen Rakes.
There will be no visitation. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Assumption Catholic Church, Charlotte, with the Rev. Fr. Scott Lemaster officiating. Burial and military rites will follow in the Church Cemetery.
