James M. Edlen age 51 of Newton, Iowa passed away Friday March 14, 2014 in Hernando, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Cremation rites will follow with a graveside service to be held at 11:30 A.M. at the Miles Cemetery on Saturday, March 22nd at 11:30 A.M. with military rites by the Sabula American Legion. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

James was born in Clinton on October 6, 1962, the son of Gary and Carol (Hall) Edlen. He listed in the U.S. Navy during his junior year of high school and after graduation he proudly served for 17 years. James married Dawn Mann on February 14, 2011 in Newton. He was employed as an electrician with Shermco Energy, based in Arlington, TX. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, collecting guns and model trains.

James is survived by his wife Dawn; seven children, Stephanie Edlen (Donald Bollinger), Jason Edlen, Ashley Edlen and Justin Edlen all of Ohio, Kenneth Vasquez of Newton, Austin Miner of Toledo, OH and Rya Anderson of Colfax, IA; his mother, Carol (Tom) Hall Moore of Georgetown, TX; special mother, Ione Edlen of Sabula; six grandchildren; his siblings, Laura (Randy) Smith of Stafford, VA, Natalie Moore of Austin, TX, Gary (Kathy) Rathje of Clinton, Danny (Deanna) Rathje of Sabula and Gayle Fraker of Clinton; special friends Tasha Johnson and Seton Smith both of Baxter, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
