James C. Thyne age 62 of Clinton passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday March 15th at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 3 – 8 PM Friday, March 14th at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jason and Chris Thyne, Chad Sweeney, Cody Seeley, Michael Cervantes, and Adam Balster. Memorials may be given to University of Iowa, M.I.C.U. or Clinton High Cross Country Team. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com

Jim was born in Clinton on Feb. 19, 1952 in Clinton, IA, the son of William and Rosemary (Kenney) Thyne. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and Clinton Community College. He married Diane Zuidema on Jan. 20, 1973 in Clinton.
He owned and operated R.H.A. Service in Clinton for many years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Board of Directors at YMCA, Clinton High Band Booster, coached cross country at Clinton High School and Ashford University, President of the Clinton Community College alumina association, race director for many different road races, and hot air balloon pilot.

Jim is survived by two children, Jason (Sarah) Thyne of Decatur, IL and Amy (Kyle) Priest of Bettendorf, IA; four grandchildren, Jazzlyn, Jackson, Avery, and Samantha, with his fifth grandchild due in May; a special friend, Ron Warren of Clinton; eight brothers and sisters, Mike (Kathy) Thyne of Fairbury, IL, Maggie (Tom) Balster of Dubuque, Jan Thyne of Dubuque, John (Kay) Thyne of Morrison, Mary Pat (Chip) Kurt of Eagan, MN, Joe Thyne of Clinton, Jacque (Oscar) Cervantes of Batavia, IL and Maureen (Dave) Ewinger of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents.
