John E. Brown age 92 of Clinton, passed away Saturday March 1, 2014 at Eagle Point Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral mass will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday March 4th at Prince of Peace Parish, Clinton. Visitation will be held Tuesday 11:00 AM until the service hour at the church. Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be held at St. Irenaeus Cemetery at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian and Shannon Brown, Dale and Jim Dorsey, Harry Toureene, David, Steve, and Paul Schwartz, Dennis and Dick Grantz, David Wagemaster, Dave Sander, Don Hughes, Les Johnson, Joe Claseman, Dwaine Schroeder, David and Alan Overkamp, and Bob Roeder. John was born on Aug. 26, 1921 in Glendive, Montana the son of Bernard and Catherine (Allen) Brown. He graduated from Elvira High School in 1939. He married Lucille Grantz on Sept. 15, 1945 in Clinton; she died in 2007. John farmed his whole life in the Bryant area. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Sugar Creek and St. Mary’s Church in Bryant, the Clinton County Cattleman’s Assoc. and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his two sons, Robert (Pam) Brown of Marion, IA and Kevin (Stephany) Brown of Clinton; five grandchildren and 6 great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, and three sisters.
